Victorian Terrace Kitchen Extension, Private house in London by Archio

Probably the backbone of many architectural practices is the kitchen extension but you can always expect something amazing. This is a Victorian terrace which the architects Archio were asked to design a light open space with contemporary kitchen and dining area that led out into the garden with full width doors. The result is a simple yet effective use of space with a modern open feel. Using birch ply and bespoke plywood kitchen to create a minimalist yet warm modern aesthetic. Attention to detail is always the joy of working with architects with every detail practical ,functional and pleasing. Lighting and roof lights to maximise the use of structural space and seamless connection to the exterior which was also designed to match the indoors and extend the feeling of space.

The external doors did catch me out as they were elecro magnetic which confused me for a while until I was shown the wall switch to open them, they naturally then needed minimum effort to slide them open and connect with the outdoor space.

I would always recommend using an architect to design and work on any project as they have the , skills, experience and knowledge to ensure everything not only looks great, serves it’s function but also all of the permissions, contractor negotiation and insurance of quality. With any project a registered architect is going to make life easier and more secure for you investment and vision.

As a photographer I always look forward to seeing something new and original and architects never fail to deliver. My job is to record and highlight all of the skills and beauty that they deliver helping them with the perfect collection of architectural and interior photography of any given scheme.
